Austin Steward A-2 This god's name is Ra. Ra had a hawk head, and a man's body. He also had a sun disk headdress. Ra is the sun god, and the most important god to the Egyptians. Ancient Egyptians thought the sky goddess swallowed him every night. Then they thought he was reborn every morning. Ra was believed to have traveled through the underworld at night. Once in the underworld, Ra had a body of a man and a head of a ram. Ra got the name Amen-Ra because he got together with another god, Amen.
Ra was the god of the sun. What he did was light up the world. The bright yellow ball was Ra. Ra was the one who kept everybody warm in the winter. Ra was also part of the reason plants grew.
Ra's temple is on a huge stone platform. The temple is a gigantic ball, representing the sun, also made of stone. The ball is painted yellow. At the bottom of the ball there is a doorway that was cut out of the stone. On the front of the temple is a huge engraving of Ra's face. A statue I would have would be a statue of Ra, like the picture below.
